Shadow and Flame (Yellow)
Overview:
This fan-fiction work chronicles the rise to power of Maleva Greymourne, a young noblewoman who is destined to become one of the greatest Warlocks in Azerothian history. With the aid of her demonic companions, and her human friends and teachers, she begins to find her way in a life that she never intended to live. Whether the sacrifices that she makes in the name of power–the power to change the world for the greater good–are worth it, only time and history will tell. Can she avoid making the biggest sacrifice of all?

Spoiler-Free Author’s Notes:
Maleva was once my main character in World of Warcraft, and we shared nearly four years together. She was my first serious character, and together we learned as much as we possibly could in regard to the game, its expectations, its rules and its people. She (and I) also became the leader of a little guild called Night Legion, which ran for almost three years and grew to around 300 people at its height, before dissolving due to a giant load of guild drama around the time of the first expansion. In my subsequent search to restore the deep friendships and teamwork that I had enjoyed so much, a great many things happened, and a handful of them led me to delete all of my old characters in anger at the game. Maleva died that day, but her story lives on in the hearts and minds of those who remember her.
Note: I have, after much thought and consideration, thrown myself on the mercy of the GMs, and asked them to reinstate Maleva for me. She is no longer Maleva, as I have changed her name multiple times now (once to avoid detection by unwanted old acquaintances, and now again because her old pseudonym was taken) but the character is the same one that I used to play. It has taken me a long time to “earn” her back, but I feel I have done so, and I’m enjoying my time with her once again, though she is no longer what I would call my “main.”
I am posting this as one of my available stories because it has been so long since I last worked on it. Due to the deep emotional issues I have had with this whole mess, I have been loathe to continue. However, I think I have progressed enough to where I can look at it again without screaming, and maybe even do a better job now that I am divorced from the baggage! I have always known where the story would end, but I have had only a passing interest in finishing it until now. Mal and her story deserve better than that, and so I’ve made it my goal to finish it, at least at some point. How soon that will be will depend on your votes, of course!
