Synopsis:
Nora is a Weaver of the Pattern; a talented magician in a broken world dedicated to preserving balance between good and evil in the world. For every good thing that she does in life, she must do something she hates, and for every mistake she makes, she must atone. One day, Nora is driven to accept a task to atone for her sins that turns into something far greater than she ever intended. Will she be able to preserve the balance she so respects?
Excerpt:
In Johnny’s hand was a similarly questionable device. Nora knew that technology had changed, after the Terminus – changed into dust. Gone were the beautiful and frivolous gadgets that humans had toyed with for their own amusement. In their place, new systems had to be developed, and none of them were pleasing to the eye. In the world since the Terminus, beauty was a luxury that only the richest could afford, and the sheer scope of what was considered beautiful in the first place had shifted with it. She was still young enough to remember the pre-Terminus toys and games from her childhood memories and the memories of those that came before her, and it was difficult at best to reconcile the monstrous effigy in Johnny’s hand as the same thing as the radios she’d known.
Comments:
Please keep in mind that this was created for NaNoWriMo. Completing the challenge is based on word count, not quality. This is far from the worst thing I have ever written, but please do be aware that this is, verbatim, what I wrote for the contest. It has not been edited for mistakes or anything else. I will be making every effort to continue work on it to polish it into something near perfection, but this version is for those that want to see it in progress. Do not expect a novel that stands toe-to-toe with the greats just yet.
How to read:
Click on the link below. You should be prompted to either open the file and read it on your computer, or save a copy to your computer instead. Saving it is recommended, as most people will not be able to read the entire story in one sitting! Most operating systems have some kind of PDF reader built in, so you should not need special software to use the file. If you are unable to get it working, let me know and I can try to help.
If you download it and read it, please do let me know what you think of it! Feedback is my best friend, and the only payment I request for giving you something to read.
