Many thanks and many happy returns go out to AP Roberts, the titular author of The Writings of A. P. Roberts blog, for bestowing me with these two awards. They are my first, and so they are that much more special to me.

Accepting these awards, however, comes with a few caveats:
The Versatile Blogger Award: Link back to the person who gave you the award, share seven things about yourself, pass the award to up to fifteen bloggers who you think deserve it, and contact the people you’ve picked.
One Lovely Blog Award: Accept the award, post it on your blog with a link to the person who gave it to you, pass it to up to fifteen other bloggers who are new to you, contact the people you’ve picked.
It may take me some time, as I confess I do not read a lot of other blogs – my reading pile of published authors is bad enough, to say nothing of the Internet world! But I appreciate the hard work that others like me put in each day, and as such, I think this is a great way to see what’s out there. Whenever I get spare time, I promise to see what I can find, and bring it to your attention in order to “pay it forward” as asked. I will do my best to maintain subject matter as well – only blogs by and for writers will qualify.

My 15 One Lovely Blog Award choices:
None yet. I will work on it, I promise.
Seven Things About Me:
1. I wear a black steel ring on the middle finger of my right hand. I have been told that the Japanese characters on it read “friend,” but the ring has “power” engraved on the inside. Powerful friend? Friend power? Either way, I like it. I keep the characters upside-down (to me) as a symbol of projecting those sentiments outward rather than inward.
2. I met my husband via an online game (a Gundam Wing themed MUD) that is now defunct. We were both 16. He lived in North Carolina and I lived in Arizona. We came from very different families with very different expectations and ideals. Somehow, we ended up married, despite all the intervening chaos.
3. I love to cook, and love trying new recipes, sometimes even creating my own! I never learned until I was out of my mother’s home, but boy did I learn. There aren’t many things I won’t eat, or at least try. My doctor would prefer I try less of them!
4. I’m a type 1 diabetic, and have been since I was six years old. They told my parents that if we’d waited a week longer before bringing me to the hospital, I would have died. Science doesn’t know what causes type 1 diabetes. The reason I wasn’t hospitalized sooner was because the doctors were happy I was losing weight. I get really mad when the media blames it all on obesity, as if there’s no difference at all.
5. My birth was an accident. Not the kind most people are familiar with; my mother was told she couldn’t have children, but she was in a car accident and somehow this affected her to the point where she could. I don’t know the science, but I’m glad for it!
6. I’m not a movie fan. Nine times out of ten, movies are based on books, and I’d just as soon read the book. If I’ve already read the book, I have no need to watch the film. I don’t like “cutting for time.” I also don’t like messing with plotlines, characters, etc. to suit mainstream audiences. The author wrote it; the least you can do is respect what they chose to write. If you didn’t like it the way it was, why are you trying to make it into a movie?
7. I’m a cat person. I love all animals and will be kind to all of them, even including dogs, but dogs just smell. I’m sorry, but no matter how cute they are, their breath stinks and the air in the house or apartment they came from has a specific odor of “dog” that turns me off. There’s nothing nicer than a snuggly, purry ball of warm fur in your lap, and that only stinks in brief intervals when it has to use the litter box.
