About Color Ratings
I have attempted to construct a simple yet effective method of rating my stories in regard to content. The stories are rated by color, and each color indicates a certain intended age and/or maturity threshold for that story or others that share its color. A story is given a color when it is first posted; assume that the color rating applies for each chapter of a given story.
If you are concerned about reading something that will offend or not appeal to you, please take these colors into consideration. They will not inform you of every potential opportunity to offend (this is impossible) but they will at least give you a good idea of what you are in for. I have targeted the big offenders, and I hope that it will be enough to allow you to make an informed decision. The descriptions and colors may change over time, depending on feedback and suggestions; I will inform you via news post if this occurs.
- Red: This story may contain one or more of the following: extreme violence and death of humans or animals, graphic sexual acts or situations, nudity, frequent and/or unapologetic use of crude language, drug use, complex plots intended for adults, or controversial subjects such as homosexuality or real-world religion. Recommended for ages 18+.
- Yellow: This story may contain one or more of the following: moderate violence and/or death of humans or animals, sexual references, partial nudity, infrequent use of mild language, frightening imagery and themes, or drug references. Recommended for ages 13+. Most of the stories you will find on Ink Raindrops will be yellow.
- Green: This story is intended for children, and though it may contain minor acts of violence (not resulting in death), the story does not contain any material unsuitable for ages 10 or younger. Parents, please read ahead to be certain.
Please keep in mind that the majority of my writing is in the fantasy genre. If subjects such as magic, fictional religions and deities, monsters and supernatural creatures, or other common themes associated with the genre offend you, then you may want to consider finding a different author to read. Even my stories labeled as green often contain these subjects, as they come part and parcel with the genre. I believe that children can appreciate fantasy if they are taught early the difference between fantasy and reality (as I was), but for this website, I ask that parents please educate themselves on what is here, and then decide what is best for them.
